November 2009, the seventh generation of DAT tape format, DAT320 drives and media have now been developed and are available to purchase from a range of suppliers.
The new DAT320 tape drives offer 320GB of compressed capacity and compressed speeds of up to 86GBs per hour. Backward compatible with DAT160 drives, they provide an upgrade path to double the capacity and 75% more performance for the largest installed base of any technology.
DAT320 continues to provide small or medium-size businesses and remote offices dependable DAT-based data protection that balances performance with price.
